Visiting Students During Truck Driver Appreciation Week

Take a look at these amazing photos of one of our drivers visiting an elementary school in Carthage, Missouri!

The school hosted a convoy of trucks for their students as part of Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Students got to tour the truck and even sit in the cab. What a fun day!

Happy Mexican Independence Day!

Hoy celebramos la independencia de México. ¡L&P les desea unas felices fiestas!

Today, we celebrate Mexico’s independence. L&P wishes you a happy holiday!

Thank You, Drivers!

We’re wrapping up National Truck Driver Appreciation Week!

Did you know that Leggett & Platt employs nearly 400 drivers nationally? Our truck drivers make sure that our products and materials get where they need to be.

In many ways, drivers keep us running!

  • Did you know that your favorite grocery store would run out of food in just 3 days without truck drivers?
  • There are over 16 million trucks in the U.S. alone. If these trucks were stacked on top of each other, they would reach the moon!
  • The average driver will spend roughly 240 nights a year on the road. That means they are away from their homes and families over half of a year. That is a lot of missed date nights, football games, cheer practices, and bedtimes.
  • Many truck drivers take pets on their trips. Pets help combat loneliness, reduce stress, and encourage regular exercise.
  • It is estimated that 1 in every 14 jobs in the U.S. is created by or directly affected by the trucking industry.

If you get the chance today, be sure to thank a driver.

To all of our drivers at L&P, we appreciate you!

If you’re interested in driving for us, we’re always looking for experienced drivers to join our team. At L&P, you’ll find state-of-the-art equipment and full benefits. You can apply here.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes and honors the culture, heritage, and contributions of employees who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, The Caribbean, and Central and South America.

Honoring Hispanic heritage was first introduced in 1968 as a weeklong event. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed a law to expand the celebration to a 31-day period – to coincide with the Independence Days of many Latin American countries.

We honor all employees across L&P who celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and have positively impacted our culture and have enriched our workplaces. To celebrate their achievements, we invited a few to share about themselves, their jobs, and what their Hispanic heritage means to them, and we will highlight them over the next few weeks here and on our social media – so stay tuned!

Meet Mario Alvarado

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re inviting L&P employees to share about themselves and their Hispanic heritage.

Meet Mario Alvarado, a Machine Operator at our Fort Worth Rebond location in Fort Worth, Texas. Mario has worked for Leggett & Platt for almost seven years.

“The thing I enjoy most about my job is the importance of my role. My work is necessary to produce our product, and my managers trust me. I am proud of the life I can provide for my children through my work at Leggett & Platt.

I am proud that my people, culture, and heritage are recognized and celebrated this month.”

Connect to Hope

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and we want to raise awareness about the new 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline—a phone number you can call or text to receive free and confidential support.

If you or someone you know needs help, connect to hope. Call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org, to speak to a trained crisis counselor 24/7/365.

Our Values in Action: We Rise

In 2011, L&P began We Rise, an employee-funded program that helps to satisfy the emergency needs of employees and their immediate families in the aftermath of catastrophic events or natural disasters.

The fund exists due to the generosity of our people. In 2021, we held a fundraising campaign where L&P double-matched employee donations up to $50,000, and we were able to rebuild the fund with such incredible pledges and donations.

Recently, We Rise provided 13 employees from our Winchester, Kentucky facility with a total of $47,600 to help recover from flood damage. At L&P, we believe in putting people first and want our employees to know they are not alone in the wake of tragedy.

A Culture of Safety and Sustainability

At L&P, we are committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees and being responsible stewards of the environment. Our Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) Policy outlines our high standard of responsibility:

“We are dedicated to the safety and welfare of all employees through education, awareness, and prevention. Our goal is to reduce and eliminate workplace injuries through process safety and to continuously improve our employee safety. . .We aggressively pursue resource conservation opportunities throughout our operations. We use best practices to produce high-quality products while striving to reduce the impact on the environment.”
