MFG Day Recap: Pizza and Partnership at Spring Hill

Last Friday, manufacturers across the United States celebrated Manufacturing Day, also known as MFG Day, by opening their doors to showcase the potential of modern manufacturing and inspire the next generation of manufacturers.

This year, five L&P locations hosted MFG Day activities:

• Flex-O-Lators in Carthage, MO
• Flooring Products in Berwick, PA
• Genesis Seating in Kentwood, MI
• Davidson Plyforms in Grand Rapids, MI
• Adjustable Bed (Consumer Products) in Spring Hill, FL

Our Adjustable Bed branch in Spring Hill, Florida, hosted a representative from NAM (National Association of Manufacturers) and a Recruiter in Workforce Development at Pasco-Hernando State College.

They were also visited by students from Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School.

5 Office Must-Haves: Marko Mircetic in Corporate Development

If you want to get to know Leggett & Platt, you should get to know our people first. What better way than by seeing a few of their favorite things?

Marko’s role: Research Analyst

Job in a nutshell: Helping to analyze and acquire companies that can strengthen Leggett’s portfolio of businesses and improve shareholder returns.

Marko Mircetic

  1. Cleats – If time allows, I’m always up for some lunchtime soccer. A group of employees regularly plays on the field across the street! It’s a great way to get a workout and meet other people around L&P.
  2. Water Bottle – I am not a huge coffee or tea drinker, even though I’ll have them once in a while. I am all H2O (well, about 60% if you want to get scientific here). I go through 2 or 3 of these bottles a day.
  3. WSJ – Good ol’ Wall Street Journal – my way of staying plugged in to the world around me.
  4. Sticky Notes – When I’m in the middle of a mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deal, things happen fast – really fast. Sticky notes to the rescue. I usually jot down my new to-do’s and stick them on my monitors, a method I borrowed from our former treasurer!
  5. Notebook – This is a must when I am headed to a meeting. Tough to replace plain old paper and a pen… it’s just so efficient! And the leather is fancy.

Want to see more? It’s been a minute since we’ve worked on this series, but we’re back! Check out a few Office Must-Haves from the past.

1970s Tradeshow

Back in the day, we often explored potential acquisitions through contacts at tradeshows. Here’s a display from a tradeshow in the 1970s.

Fast forward to today, and our Exhibit Solutions team is growing and busier than ever!

Photo Gallery: L&P Golf Tournament for United Way

On August 25, Leggett & Platt hosted the 7th annual Golf Tournament to benefit the Carthage Area United Way. A little bit of rain didn’t even dampen our spirits – a total of 44 teams competed throughout the day in the golf scramble, poker tournament, and hole-in-one and putting contests. Altogether we raised approximately $18,000! We couldn’t have made the day successful without the players, corporate sponsors, and our 50 volunteers. Here are some of our favorite photos from the day!

Part of Your Everyday Life

“As a recruiter for Leggett & Platt, I’m always telling people they come into contact with our products every day and just don’t realize it. Little did I know (until today) that my very own favorite-spot-in-the-house couch boasts Leggett reclining mechanisms! Leggett & Platt really is a part of everyday life!”

Managing Risk with Mitch Dolloff

You can’t have forward movement without risk.

Today we learned how to recognize, assess, and manage risk with our Executive VP & President of Specialized & Furniture Products, Mitch Dolloff. He presented a live class and webcast as part of our in-house Choose Your Own Learning series.

As a bonus, he personally passed out cookies!
