Governor Parson Visits Spühl

Last week, Missouri Governor Mike Parson visited our Spühl GmbH facility in Wittenbach, Switzerland. Spühl develops and produces high-performance equipment for the production of innerspring units. Governor Parson toured the production facilities and learned about the robust apprenticeship and vocational training program at Spühl.

Thank you for visiting us, Governor Parson!

Three Classes of Emerging Leaders

Here they are! L&P’s Emerging Leader Academy – Class of 2019, 2020, and 2021!

(Of course we ran with the silly photo. Anything with a front-and-center leprechaun jump is a winner in our books.)

We are so proud to host and learn alongside such a dedicated and diverse group of participants. Last week was a truly wonderful week!

Sewing & Upholstery at Work Furniture

Our Work Furniture Group has a complete upholstery department with cut-and-sew capabilities. Our highly skilled employees are qualified in upholstering curved plywood and solid wood frames and can offer their expertise from new product development to full upholstery production – from all types of fabric to leather!

A Truck Driving Champion Among Us!

In late May, the Missouri Truck Driving Championship evaluated drivers on their knowledge of the industry, vehicle inspections, and a driving skills course of six obstacles completed under actual everyday conditions.

This year, L&P entered 3 drivers in the competition: Terry Childers and Felix Herman (OTR drivers in the Sleeper Berth Class) and David Pruitt (5-Axle Class). While Terry and Felix had both competed in the year prior, this was David’s first year of competition.

We’re proud of the results!

David won Rookie of the Year for his outstanding, well-rounded performance as a first-time contestant, as well as 1st Place in the 5-Axle Class, making him the MO State Champion in the 5-Axle Class. David will now advance to the National Truck Driving Championships to be held in Pittsburgh, PA in August.

Congratulations and good luck in the National Championships, David!

A Few Scenes from The Summit

This week, our Corporate Headquarters welcomed an amazing group of people to the third annual Emerging Leader Academy (ELA) conference! Over 100 L&P employees joined us from across the globe to network, learn from senior leaders, and study concepts of change management. What a week it’s been!

Doug Thrasher (Plant Manager, Carthage Wire Mill) shares his thoughts on change management during the roundtable networking event.

Mitch Dolloff (COO) and Steve Henderson (President-Automotive Group) spoke openly about their vision for the future of L&P during the closing keynote.

Participants had many opportunities to network and build their relationships — some even enjoyed a quick game of horseshoes during lunch.

ELA participants Nathan Herndon, Chris Whitesell, and Vinny Dimino.

Ben Cuthbert (European Sales & Marketing Director) was peer selected to serve as Valedictorian of the 2019 graduating class.

That’s a Wrap on the 2019 Summit!

This week, we hosted over 100 of our emerging leaders from all over the world to network, learn from senior leaders, and study concepts of change management – all as part of our annual conference for the Emerging Leader Academy.

And what a week it was.

We’re still over here recovering, so check back soon for more pictures!

Spotlight on Trio Line Polska

Throughout June, we’re highlighting people, places, and products within our Furniture Products segment. Today we’re putting the spotlight on Trio Line Polska!

Behind every branch at Leggett & Platt is a story: How they’ve grown or faced challenges, how they’ve developed and defined their culture, and how their products support unique customers. Trio Line Polska’s story is one of growth and great craftsmanship.

Welcome to Trio Line

Trio Line 1Based in Poland and acquired by L&P in early 2015, Trio Line joined our Work Furniture group to produce high-end upholstered furniture for some of the most recognized European furniture brands – the most iconic being the Egg Chair produced for Fritz Hansen. In fact, the branch’s main production is for the dining and lounge chair markets.

What makes Trio Line stand out is the artistry that goes into each piece of furniture. The attention to detail, precision, and beautiful finish make their products uniquely high-end. Trio Line has been able to push their products worldwide for customers such as Steelcase, Herman Miller, and Haworth.

Bjorn Bahnsen heads the Trio Line management team. In 1999, Bjorn purchased his family’s Danish furniture company, Trio Line A/S. Four years later, he started Trio Line Polska to gradually shift production from Denmark to Poland. Since 1999, Bjorn has grown the business from 6 employees to over 500 – and they are some of our most dedicated. According to Wojtek Mytko, VP of Production: “None of the competition we give other producers would be possible without our talented team of employees.” Continue reading

The Interns Have Landed

Our summer interns are here! We officially kicked off our Doors program, and we’re not even ashamed that we used a selfie stick to do it. Just like it was 2014.

We’re so excited for the summer ahead!
